Guwahati, September 03 (HS). The Demoria branch of All Assam Students Union (AANSU) has called upon the district administration to launch an immediate drive against illegal immigrants. During a press conference organized by the Demoria branch of ANSU today, the student union leaders praised the encroachment removal drive launched by the district administration against suspicious citizens in Kasutali and Sonapur Pathar of Demoria area.
The leaders of the organization said that out of the 12 panchayats under Demoria Unnayan block, more than 500 families are illegally living on the land of Tribal Block and Belt in Sonapur, Kamarkuchi, Baruabari, Hahara, Tetaria and Topatoli village panchayat areas. The district administration should remove them as soon as possible. There are 145 villages in Demoria area, out of which 112 villages have been reserved for tribal people.
The student organization has demanded the District Deputy Commissioner to take action against illegal residents as soon as possible. It is known that between 22 and 24 August, 11 houses were demolished by the district administration in Kasutali and Sonapur areas. Which were built illegally. Aansoo leaders said that some people are engaged in saving the people living illegally. Action should be taken against them as soon as possible.
