Collector Akash Chhikara, while addressing the innovative initiative “What did you learn today” program at Swami Atmanand Excellent English Medium School, Janjgir on Friday, told the students and parents that we have to discuss “What did you learn today?” with the children every day and at home. A corner has to be maintained in an organized manner for studies. In which children can study in a good environment. The said program has been started under the joint auspices of the district administration and UNICEF.
Addressing the program, the Collector said that it is important to be mentally prepared while preparing for the examination. By repeatedly preparing for the subject our fear goes away. He said that whatever work we do, be it studies or sports, we definitely achieve it if we make a goal and give it 100 percent. While discussing with the parents, he said that for the progress of the children, it is necessary to create an environment of learning in the school as well as at home. For this, it is important to discuss with the children daily in school about “What did you learn today?” With this, children will remain enthusiastic about studies and they will be able to study better and progress further. He said that on one hand, “What did you learn today?”, on the other hand, prepare a corner in the house for children to study. During this time, he also discussed with the students about the examination. During this time, UNICEF District Coordinator Divya Rajput, Principal along with teachers and students were present.
The program will increase participation of parents in education
An innovative program to ensure involvement of parents in children's education through the program “What did you learn today?” has been started in Janjgir Champa district of Chhattisgarh. Under the program, parents will be encouraged to ask children daily what they learned today and on that day, parents will set up a learning corner at their home. Supported by UNICEF, the new program will be strengthened by thousands of Yuvodaya youth volunteers.

The Collector met the school children at Atmanand School and also discussed with them. The children told what they want to become when they grow up. During this time, when he asked the children in Class 1 the questions related to addition, subtraction, multiplication and division on the digital board, the children answered the questions with great enthusiasm by raising their hands. Pleased with the children's candid answers, the collector also distributed chocolates.
