Flood crisis in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana: So far 31 people have died due to heavy rains in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Apart from this, transport equipment like roads and railway tracks have also been damaged. Thousands of acres of agricultural land have been submerged. 16 people have died in Telangana and 15 in neighboring Andhra Pradesh in rain-related incidents. Railway tracks near the coast in Telangana have been washed away in flood waters. Due to which 432 trains have been canceled. While the routes of 139 trains have been changed.
Heavy rain is predicted in this district
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in 11 districts of Telangana including Adilabad, Jagityal, Kamareddy, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Medak, Medchal Malkajagiri, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Sangareddy in the next 24 hours. On the other hand, 4.5 lakh people have been affected by heavy rains and floods in Andhra Pradesh in the last three days. 31,238 people have been shifted to 166 relief camps. The most affected districts include NTR, Guntur, Krishna, Eluru, Palanadu, Bapatla and Prakasam.
Deployment of NDRF and SDRF teams
The worst affected districts in Andhra Pradesh include NTR, Guntur, Krishna, Eluru, Palanadu, Bapatla and Prakasam. 20 teams of SDRF and 19 teams of NDRF are engaged in relief and rescue work. Due to torrential rains for the last three days and power cuts for more than 24 hours in many parts, life in Vijayawada has come to a complete standstill. Internet and mobile telephone services have been disrupted due to the floods. Connectivity of Hyderabad was affected.
Rahul Gandhi appealed to the central government
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi called upon Congress leaders and workers to provide all possible help in relief and rescue operations. He demanded the Central Government and Andhra Pradesh Government to provide rehabilitation package to the flood affected people as soon as possible.
Telangana faces losses of Rs 5,000 crore
At least 16 people have lost their lives in various incidents related to torrential rains in Telangana. The state government has estimated the loss to be Rs 5,000 crore. In this regard, immediate assistance of Rs 2,000 crore was sought from the central government. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced an assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of those who died in rain-related incidents.
