IC814: From the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to the content head of Netflix India, the controversy over the series 'IC-814- The Kandahar Hijack' is increasing. After which the government has sent a summon to the content head of Netflix India. This step was taken after the objection of the viewers.
Commenting on this situation, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah shed light on this. He said on X, “Those who accepted the ‘Kashmir Files’ as true are now demanding accuracy in ‘IC-814’. Now suddenly they want accuracy and nuances in the script.”
According to news agency ANI, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has summoned the content head of Netflix for questioning regarding the 'IC814' web series. There is a controversy over the names of terrorists in the film. BJP leader Amit Malviya has alleged that Anubhav Sinha has done this deliberately.
BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya has criticised filmmaker Anubhav Sinha for legitimising the criminal intent of the kidnappers by using non-Muslim names. Malviya posted that “Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha has legitimised their criminal intent by promoting their non-Muslim names.” He expressed concern that future generations would mistakenly assume that Hindus were responsible for the kidnapping.
Malviya also accused leftist groups of trying to cover up the crimes of Pakistani terrorists through cinema. “The leftist agenda of covering up the crimes of Pakistani terrorists, who are all Muslims, has succeeded. This is the power of cinema, which the communists have been using aggressively since the 70s. Maybe even before,” he said.
The government has taken these concerns seriously and has summoned the content head of Netflix India for clarification. Official sources have confirmed that the meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday. Malviya warned that such a portrayal could undermine India's security situation and lead to impeachment of those responsible for the violence. “This will not only undermine/question India's security in the long run but will also put the blame on the religious group responsible for all the bloodshed,” he said.
