UP Crime News: Encounter with robbers at jewelry shop in Sultanpur, three injured | News India

Three accused of looting a jewellery shop in Sultanpur, UP were arrested after an encounter with the police on Tuesday morning. A constable was injured in the encounter. While three robbers Sachin Singh, Pushpendra and Tribhuvan were shot.

1.5 crore looted from jewelry shop

According to Sultanpur police, the three were involved in the robbery of more than Rs 1.5 crore from a jewellery shop on August 28. Acting on a tip-off, the police team caught the three around 3.30 am, after which the accused opened fire. All three were injured in retaliatory firing by the police. They were taken to the hospital in an injured condition.

Superintendent of Police Somen Burma said that the three were arrested after they were shot in the leg in retaliatory fire. Police constable Shailesh Rajbhar was also injured in the firing after being shot in the leg.

5 people carried out robbery at gunpoint

Regarding the robbery at the jewellery shop, the police said, five people on two motorcycles reached Bharatji Soni's showroom and looted cash and jewellery at gunpoint. The accused looted the shop within 10 minutes and fled towards Prayagraj Highway. Five days after this incident, three accused have been arrested. While the search for other accused is on. They will also be arrested soon.

4 injured including a police constable in the firing

The whole incident took place near Godwa Chowki of Nagar Kotwali, where police received information about the presence of some suspects tonight. Police immediately laid siege to nab the miscreants, but instead of surrendering, the robbers opened fire on the police, in which a constable was injured.

The injured were taken for treatment

Meanwhile, in the retaliatory action of the police, three robbers Sachin Singh, Pushpendra Singh and Tribhuvan alias Lala Harijan were injured. All three miscreants are residents of Amethi district. The injured constable and three miscreants have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. It is being told that the arrested robbers were involved in the robbery at Bharatji Soni's shop located in Thatheri Bazaar of Nagar Kotwali a few days ago. At present, jewelry, cash and weapons have been recovered from the robbers.
