Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh: Caste census was discussed in the three-day brainstorming session of the Sangh in Kerala. The Sangh says that while caste-related issues are a sensitive issue in Hindu society, it is also an important issue of our national unity. Now the Congress has raised questions on the statement of the Sangh.
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has heated up politics over caste-based census before the assembly elections in two states. In the three-day brainstorming session of RSS in Kerala, caste-based census was discussed. Meanwhile, Congress has raised questions over the statement of the Sangh. They say that they themselves had given permission for caste census. At the same time, Congress has also targeted PM Modi.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday shared a post on Twitter and wrote, 'The RSS's didactic talk about caste census raises several fundamental questions. Does the RSS have the right to ban caste census, who is it that allows caste census, what does the RSS mean when it says caste census should not be misused for election campaigning? Is it like being a judge or an umpire? Why is the RSS mysteriously silent on the need for a constitutional amendment to remove the 50 per cent cap on reservations for Dalits, Adivasis and OBCs?'
Gender census is a sensitive issue
Jairam Ramesh said, 'RSS has given the green signal, so will the non-organic Prime Minister hijack another Congress guarantee and conduct caste census?' The Sangh has said that caste census is a sensitive issue and should not be politicized. The Sangh's statement has come at a time when the opposition is constantly demanding caste-based census and calling the BJP anti-backward and anti-Dalit. BJP's allies in the government, JDU, LJP (Ram Vilas) and Apna Dal are also in support of caste-based census. Meanwhile, the question is what will be the stand of BJP after the message of the Sangh. However, BJP has often accused the opposition of dividing the society on the pretext of caste-based census.
What did RSS President Mohan Bhagwat say?
RSS's Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar says that caste-related issues are not only a sensitive issue in Hindu society, it is also an important issue of our national unity, so it should be taken seriously. It should not be seen as an election issue or politics. For social welfare schemes, especially for any backward caste.
In the meeting, RSS President Mohan Bhagwat also said a few things on caste based census. According to information received from sources, Bhagwat said that the job of politicians is to earn profit by dividing the society into castes. For this, caste system is adopted. We have to take everyone along on the basis of the ideology of the Sangh. It is our duty to maintain social harmony. Political parties will continue to demand social classification due to selfishness.
