Till now there were only two districts in Ladakh, Leh and Kargil. But now after the formation of five new districts, there will be a total of 7 districts in Ladakh. Let us tell you that according to the current area, Ladakh is much bigger than Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Kerala, Delhi and the states of North East.
It is worth noting that in the year 2019, the central government separated Ladakh from Jammu and Kashmir and made it a union territory, but after the announcement of the creation of 5 new districts in Ladakh by the central government, the pace of development is expected to accelerate.
Let us tell you that the Union Home Ministry had announced on August 26 that 5 new districts are being created in Ladakh. With this, there will now be a total of seven districts. Apart from Leh and Kargil, the names of the five new districts are Zanskar, Daras, Sham, Nubra and Changthang, which are currently cities here.
According to the 2011 census, there were 593 districts in India. Between 2001-2011, 46 new districts were created by the states.
Let us tell you that till 21 June 2024, there were 788 districts in the country, but after the formation of five new districts in Ladakh, the total number of districts will be 793. Uttar Pradesh has the maximum number of 75 districts. Let us tell you that districts are formed in any state when the local people are not able to get the benefit of facilities due to the large area. With the formation of new districts, people will be able to take advantage of government facilities easily.
