On Monday morning, terrorists attacked the Sujwan Army Base in Jammu and Kashmir. The terrorists shot dead a soldier posted near the base. One soldier was injured in the firing. The army also opened fire in the encounter. The army has cordoned off the area and started a search operation.
A Defence Ministry spokesperson said that at 10.50 am several rounds of firing were done at the Sunjwan Military Station located outside Jammu. A soldier was seriously injured in the incident. Without giving details about the attackers who opened fire on the sentry post, the spokesperson said that an operation has been launched to nab the attackers and further information will be given in this regard.
Earlier, officials said suspected militants fired a few rounds at an Army post guarding one of the biggest security camps in the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir, following which there was a brief exchange of fire. The incident triggered panic in the area and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the local police along with the Army launched a search operation to nab the absconding militants.
Officials said that the search operation is going on but the terrorists have not been encountered yet. Earlier in February 2018, terrorists had attacked the Sunjwan army camp. In this incident, three soldiers were martyred and one civilian died. Three terrorists were killed in this incident.
