Paris, September 2 (HS). Indian para table tennis player Bhavinaben Patel has reached the quarterfinals of the women's singles WS4 category at the ongoing Paris Paralympics 2024. She won her match in three straight sets (11-3, 11-6, 11-7) against Martha Verdin of Mexico on Sunday night.
On the other hand, another women's table tennis player Sonalben Patel failed to qualify for the quarterfinals. She lost her match 3-11, 12-10, 7-11,5, 11 in the Round of 16 against Croatia's Andela Muzinic Vincetic in Women's Singles – WS3.
Earlier on August 30, Bhavina and Sonalben missed out on winning a medal as they were defeated by Korea's Young A Jung and Sunghi Moon in the women's doubles table tennis quarterfinals. The match ended with a score of 5-11, 6-11, 11-9, 6-11.
Meanwhile, on Monday morning (Indian time), Nishad Kumar won the silver medal in the men's high jump T47. With this, India has so far secured a total of seven medals in the ongoing Paris Paralympics, including one gold, two silver and four bronze.
