Raipur, 31 August (HS). His Excellency Governor Ramen Deka and Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai attended the 5th convocation ceremony held at Atal Bihari Vajpayee University campus in Bilaspur on Saturday. He awarded 92 gold medals to students in 64 subjects, PhD to 48 and degrees to 35 thousand 291 students.

Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra of the Supreme Court of India attended the program as the chief guest. He was conferred the honorary degree of PhD for his invaluable contribution to the Indian judicial system. Before the program, a convocation procession was taken out. Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Tokhan Sahu, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw, first lady of the state Rani Deka Kakoti attended the convocation as very special guests. MLAs Amar Agarwal, Dharam Lal Kaushik, Dharamjeet Singh, Sushant Shukla, Atal Shrivastava and Dilip Lahariya attended the convocation as special guests.

The Governor and the Chief Minister along with other guests released the quarterly magazine Kanhar and monthly magazine Atal Drishti of the university. Vice Chancellor Acharya Arun Diwakar Nath Vajpayee welcomed all the guests.

Addressing the convocation, Governor Ramen Deka said that universities are the custodians of our collectiveness, knowledge and culture. They are places where history is preserved. Literature is analyzed. Through your studies, you are connecting to diverse fields of thought and your views about humanity are being enriched. The National Education Policy 2020 of the Government of India represents a vision. Its aim is to equip the youth with skills and knowledge to move ahead in an increasingly dynamic world.

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that the university has received a grant of 20 crores under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM Usha), which is commendable and this will expand the infrastructure of the university and the level of higher education here will be even better. Chief Minister Sai said that the university should not remain an island of higher education, it should be concerned with the society, the university should contribute to the society and the nation and there should be continuous research work. In the modern era, the young generation is getting educated but it is also our responsibility to connect them with values. Chhattisgarh state is known for its special culture, hence special efforts should be made to provide education based on the preservation of values ​​and culture to the students.

Supreme Court judge Prashant Kumar Mishra said that the university has grown rapidly and has been recognized as a centre for academic and administrative development by the Association of Indian Universities, which reflects the quality of training provided by the university. The National Education Policy 2020 opens up opportunities for development and advancement in higher education as well as the legal field. Union Urban State Development Minister Tokhan Sahu and Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw also addressed the program. The welcome address at the program was given by Vice Chancellor Acharya Arun Diwakar Nath Vajpayee. He made everyone aware of the achievements of the university.

On this occasion, honourable Justices of the High Court, Pandit Sundar Lal Sharma Open University Vice Chancellor Vansh Gopal, Nand Kumar Patel University Vice Chancellor L.P. Pateria, Hemchand University Durg Vice Chancellor Dr. Aruna Palata, Bhupendra Savnani, Registrar Shailendra Dubey, administrative officer, along with a large number of principals of various colleges, university professors and students were present.
