In intraday trading, it rose 502.42 points or 0.61 percent to a new record high of 82,637.03 points.
A total of 2,228 stocks advanced, 1,701 declined and 116 remained unchanged on the BSE. The National Stock Exchange's Nifty rose 83.95 points or 0.33 per cent to a new high of 25,235.90. The Nifty closed with gains for the 12th consecutive day. In intraday trading, it rose 116.4 points, or 0.46 per cent, to a new high of 25,268.35.
