Sensex 82637, Nifty 25268 new record | News India

Mumbai: Local funds-local institutional investors and now foreign portfolio investors-FPIs as well as FIIs are buyers again in Indian stock markets and infrastructure projects in India are gaining momentum, bonus shares given by Reliance Industries to shareholders is a positive factor that helped funds hit index-based records yesterday. Funds today made heavy purchases in Bajaj twins Bajaj Finance and Bajaj Finserv for the second consecutive day and also bought IT-software services stocks TCS, Infosys, power-capital goods stocks NTPC, Power Grid Corporation as well as Bharti Airtel, Mahindra and Big Mahindra sending Sensex, Nifty to new record highs. Intra-day Sensex rose 502.42 points to hit a new high of 82637.03 and finally closed at a new high of 82365.77, up 231.16 points. While the Nifty 50 spot jumped 116.40 points intra-day to hit a new record high of 25268.35 and finally closed at a new record high of 25235.90, up 83.95 points.

Healthcare index gains 601 points: Glenmark Life Rs 47, Wockhardt Rs 50, Caplin Rs 113

Shares of healthcare-pharmaceuticals companies rose today as funds resumed widespread buying. Pharma stocks surged on reports of the onset of the pandemic in many parts of the country along with the monsoon and rising demand for healthcare services. Caplin Labs rose Rs 113.05 to Rs 1907.90, Wockhardt rose Rs 49.90 to Rs 1048.65, Glenmark Life rose Rs 46.90 to Rs 1051, Iris Life rose Rs 48.65 to Rs 1389.90, Morpen Lab rose Rs 2.65 to Rs 79.70, Metropolis rose Rs 64.95 to Rs 2146, Glenmark rose Rs 47.85 to Rs 1732.70, Mankind Pharma rose Rs 62.75 to Rs 2488, Alkem Lab rose Rs 157.35 to Rs 6156. The BSE Healthcare index closed at 43177.32, up 601.55 points.

Among auto stocks, Mahindra rose Rs 48 to Rs 2806: Sundram rose Rs 30, TVS gained Rs 58, Bosch gained Rs 425.

Funds are also buying shares of automobile companies heavily today. Sundaram rose by Rs 30.40 to Rs 1375, TVS Motor rose by Rs 57.95 to Rs 2812.20, Mahindra & Mahindra rose by Rs 48.30 to Rs 2806.10, Hero Motocorp rose by Rs 79.65 to Rs 5451.05, Bosch rose by Rs 425.25 to Rs 32,194.10, Tube Investment rose by Rs 41.10 to Rs 4048, Cummins India rose by Rs 20.70 to Rs 3754, MRF rose by Rs 413.20 to Rs 1,34,843.85. BSE Auto Index rose by 341.47 points to close at 59040.86.

Financial services stocks also rose today. Shares of Bajaj twins rose. Bajaj Finserv rose by Rs 27.20 to Rs 1782.45, Bajaj Finance rose by Rs 143.10 to Rs 7206.15, Arihant Capital rose by Rs 12.76 to Rs 88.75, One97 Paytm rose by Rs 67.35 to Rs 621.80, AU Small Finance Bank rose by Rs 48.05 to Rs 688.85, Religare rose by Rs 12.95 to Rs 275.70, Max Financial rose by Rs 38.90 to Rs 1075.40, MCX India rose by Rs 166.15 to Rs 5170, ABSL AMC rose by Rs 26.75 to Rs 747.75.

IT stocks continue to rally: Netweb up Rs 160 to Rs 2735: R Systems, Moschip, Imudra rise

Funds in IT – Software Services, Technology stocks continued to rise today. Netweb rose by Rs 160.20 to Rs 2735.10, R Systems rose by Rs 24.70 to Rs 519.80, Moschip Technology rose by Rs 11.40 to Rs 242.10, Emudra rose by Rs 28.65 to Rs 835, Datamatics Global rose by Rs 22.55 to Rs 693.45, Ramco Systems rose by Rs 10.90 to Rs 405.60, Proteus Egive rose by Rs 47.40 to Rs 2190.30, Sasken Technology rose by Rs 90 to Rs 1572, Sonata rose by Rs 8.30 to Rs 666.

Realty stocks rise: Prestige up Rs 92 to Rs 1816: Phoenix Mills up Rs 108, Oberoi up Rs 50

Shares of realty companies were again on the rise today. Funds were being raised in the expectation of increased demand in the real estate sector due to good monsoon. Prestige Estate rose by Rs 91.75 to Rs 1816, Phoenix Mills rose by Rs 108.60 to Rs 3749.40, Oberoi Realty rose by Rs 50.75 to Rs 1775, DLF rose by Rs 13.35 to Rs 845.05, Godrej Property rose by Rs 10 to Rs 845.05. It was up by Rs 42.55 to Rs 2914.

Market breadth positive as small, mid-cap stocks rally again: 2221 stocks close positive

In small, mid cap, cash stocks, again funds, players, high net worth investors rallied with big buying and the market breadth remained positive. Out of total 4045 stocks traded on BSE, gainers were 2221 and losers were 1709. BSE Small Cap index rose 419.10 points to close at 56021.55 and BSE Mid Cap index rose 257.55 points to close at 49065.36.

Net purchase of shares by FPIs/FIIs Rs.5318 crore: Net sale by DIIs Rs.3198 crore

Foreign Portfolio Investors- FPIs, FIIs made net purchases of shares worth Rs 5318.14 crore in cash today on Friday. A total of Rs 84,649.70 crore was sold as against a total purchase of Rs 89,967.84 crore. While DIIs-Domestic Institutional Investors made net sales of Rs 3198.07 crore in cash today. A total of Rs 21,555.44 crore was sold as against a total purchase of Rs 18,357.37 crore.

The asset-market capitalisation of investors in shares increased by Rs 1.83 lakh crore to Rs 464.40 lakh crore.

Today, investors' wealth, i.e. the total market capitalization of companies listed on BSE, increased by Rs 1.83 lakh crore due to widespread buying in small and midcap stocks and continued attraction towards stocks in that group. Rs 464.40 lakh crore in a day.
