Bihar Sharif, 30 August (HS). Rural consumers and women protested strongly against smart meters near Ben Power Grid in Ben block in Nalanda district.
The women said that if the electricity department does not take their issues seriously, they will stage a fierce protest. During the protest, seeing the crowd of women, the junior engineer (JE) left through the back door. The protest was led by RTI activist Arvind Kumar alias Bholi Babu. Bholi Babu said that the attitude of the electricity department is not only irresponsible but is also ignoring the problems of the public.
The women warned that if their demands are not met, they will stage massive protests in the coming days and intensify the movement. The protesters appealed to the electricity department officials to meet them and listen to their problems and demanded withdrawal of the smart meters.
