Indian Railways re-recruitment of retired employees: The Indian Railway Board has taken an important decision. The board has approved the reappointment of retired railway officers as consultants on vacant posts in various services of the railways as required. In a circular sent to all zonal and public sector undertakings on August 29, the Railway Board said that the reappointment of retired railway officers will be valid till December 31, 2026.
Taking into account the problems experienced by the Zonal Railways due to vacancies of Gazetted Officers, the Board has approved the re-employment of retired Railway officers as Consultants against the vacant posts as per the requirements of the services.
According to the circular, the General Manager has been given the authority to re-hire retired railway officials. And 16 terms and conditions have been stated for this. The maximum age limit has been fixed at 65 years. The appointment of consultants will not be considered a case of re-appointment.
Employees will get 1.5 paid holidays per month. But employees cannot transfer or collect these leaves. No payment will be made in lieu of these leaves on termination of the contract. Officers will not be entitled to HRA (House Rent Allowance) and government accommodation. However, they will be given transport allowance from home to office and office to home, but this allowance will be the same as is given to the officer at the time of retirement. Salary as determined at the time of appointment. Same salary will be paid during the entire contract. Apart from this, TA/DA can also be given for office tour.
