Jalandhar: A 60-gauge railway line is being laid to run trains at a speed of 160 km per hour between Amritsar-Jalandhar. Its work has been going on at the station and railway yard for the last two weeks. The railway track has been changed in Ludhiana. According to railway sources, the work of changing the said track is going on at war footing. At present, trains are running on 52 gauge railway track at Jalandhar City Station. It is worth noting that the plan to run trains at a speed of 160 km per hour was going on for a long time, but there were difficulties due to the existing railway track not being suitable for running high-speed trains. To overcome this problem, the work of laying a 60-gauge railway line has been started. The inspection has been done by the Railway Manager and Chief Engineer level railway officials of Railway Baroda House. Work is being started only on the basis of their report. At the beginning of the current year, a window inspection was also done by the railway officials after which a plan was made to lay a 60-gauge railway line. Under this, last April, the washable apron at the city railway station was demolished and a raw track was made and now the 52 gauge line is being converted into a 60 gauge line.

At present, trains will run at a speed of 110 km, 160 km across India

When the 60 gauge line between Jalandhar-Amritsar is completed, Vande Bharat will be the first train to run at a speed of 160 km, but initially its speed will be kept at 130 km per hour. Currently, under the said scheme, Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express etc. are running at a speed of 130 km. When the 60 gauge line between Ludhiana to Jalandhar and Amritsar is completed, Shatabdi and Vande Bharat Express will run at a speed of 160 km per hour. Due to this, the journey from Jalandhar to Amritsar will be reduced to just 40 minutes.

18 forks of city station were replaced

To make Jalandhar's railway track 60 gauge and run high speed trains on it, 18 gauges are replaced in the railway yard. The work of replacing the remaining gauges is going on at a fast pace.
