Dehradun, August 29 (HS). Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honored Uttarakhand players Lakshya Sen, Paramjit Singh, Suraj Panwar, Ankita Dhyani, who participated in the Paris Olympics 2024, by presenting them cheques of Rs 50 lakh each at the Multipurpose Sports Building Parade Ground on Thursday. During this, the Chief Minister also announced the start of graduate classes related to sports activities for the students of Maharana Pratap Sports College Dehradun.
In the program organized on the occasion of National Sports Day, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami wished everyone a Happy Sports Day and paid tribute to Hockey Magician Major Dhyan Chand by garlanding his picture. During this, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the website of the 38th National Games to be held in Uttarakhand. In the program, UKSRS portal has also been launched with the aim of allowing the players of the state to register themselves and record their achievements at one place.
The Chief Minister announced that graduate classes related to sports activities will also be started for the students of Maharana Pratap Sports College Dehradun. Which will be connected with the under-construction Sports University. He said that out of the 2600 players selected under the Chief Minister's Incentive Scheme, 10 percent players will be selected on the basis of their performance and special training will be arranged. Like the Target Olympic Podium Scheme run by the Sports Ministry, the Target International Podium Scheme will also be run by the state government. This will help the players of Uttarakhand state in earning medals at the international level.
The Chief Minister said that the contribution of Major Dhyan Chand in the field of sports is inspiring. Best wishes to all the players who won medals in Paris Olympics and are going to participate in Para Olympics. He said that this is just the beginning for the players of Uttarakhand who have made the journey to Paris Olympics. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, innovative efforts are being made at every level to encourage sports and players across the country. The Prime Minister constantly communicates with every player of the country to encourage them. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, a strong foundation has been prepared for sports in the country.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is continuously working to take the state forward in the field of sports. A new sports policy has been implemented with the aim of encouraging sports and players. Out of turn promotions in government jobs have been started for players who win medals at national and international level. Under this, 31 players have been given appointment in government departments. The state government has also passed a bill to establish a sports university in the state. With the establishment of a sports university in the state, our players will get world class training, facilities and opportunities.
Chief Minister Dhami said that various sports grounds present in the state are being developed as national level grounds. The state is getting the opportunity to host the 38th National Games. Hosting the National Games is a big opportunity for the state.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has established the Chief Minister's Sports Development Fund in which the pre-determined amount has been increased by 100 percent. Scholarships are being provided continuously to promote sportspersons. The amount given to buy sports kits for players participating at the national level has been increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000. Incentives are also being given to players who perform excellently in the state. Uttarakhand Khel Ratna Award and Himalaya Khel Ratna Award are also being given in the state. The state government has re-implemented the sports quota.
The state government is running historic schemes in the field of sports: Rekha Arya
On this occasion, Sports Minister Rekha Arya, while wishing National Sports Day, said that this day is dedicated to the great player Major Dhyan Chand. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dhami, the state government is running historical schemes in the field of sports. Under the Chief Minister's Udyaman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana, financial assistance is being provided for the selection of players and resources for them. Sports development fund is being arranged by the government. Sports material will also be distributed soon. He said that the state of Uttarakhand has got the hosting of the 38th National Games, for which all the preparations are almost complete.
Distribution of prize money of Rs. 7 crore 4 lakh
The Chief Minister distributed scholarships worth Rs. 58.50 lakh through DBT to 3900 (1950 boys and 1950 girls) players under the Emerging Players Development Scheme. The Chief Minister distributed prize money worth Rs. 7 crore 04 lakh through DBT to 269 national, 58 international players and 65 coaches, thus a total of 392 people.
MLA Khajan Das, Special Principal Secretary Sports Amit Sinha, Director Sports Jitendra Sonkar and representatives from the sports world were present on the occasion.
