Guwahati, August 29 (HS). For the last month, Congress is trying to create a crisis in the ethnic life of Assam in a planned manner by plotting to destabilize Assam through communal appeasement and religious polarization. State President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Bhabesh Kalita said this in a press conference held at the party headquarters Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan here today. He made serious allegations against the opposition parties which are part of the Indi Alliance including Congress.
The state president said that after getting huge support of a particular community in the last Lok Sabha elections, the Congress party has intensified its traditional politics of appeasement of Bangladeshis and has created a suffocating atmosphere in the state. These communal people who are supporters of the Congress party have today created such an atmosphere where the daughters and daughters-in-law of Assam cannot come out with an open mind. A small girl returning from tuition and school had to face the horror of rape. Assamese daughters and daughters-in-law, who teach in the areas where these people live, face daily abuse. Not only this, due to the strict action taken by the government against such elements, the leaders of the Congress-led Indi Alliance reached the peak of minority appeasement politics and criticized the government led by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and took legal action against them. With such actions of the leaders of the Congress-led Indi Alliance, the parties have exposed their nature by siding with dreaded criminals, rapists and smugglers. By freeing Assam from the misrule of Congress and establishing good governance, the Bharatiya Janata Party led government has maintained a stable environment in Assam by eliminating communal violence and hatred.
The state president said that the Congress party is trying to loot political mileage by creating a volatile atmosphere at present, just as communal conflict and violence in various parts of Assam had destroyed the peace and harmony of the state under the Congress government. The Bharatiya Janata Party-led government is determined to take a tough stand against communal evil forces and take strict legal action against the culprits who can destabilize the social life of Assam.
He said that the Congress party did not even refrain from protesting against rapists inside the sacred Assam Assembly and preventing tribal MLAs from speaking on the floor of the Assembly. The anti-tribal stance of the Congress has become clear when Morigaon MLA Ramakant Deori was insulted in the Assembly today. State BJP Chief Spokesperson Manoj Barua and News Department Convenor Dewan Dhrubjyoti Maral were also present at today's press conference.
In another statement, the state BJP president strongly condemned the statement of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, in which she said that she would burn Assam. There is no language to condemn such statements of a constitutionally elected Chief Minister. He criticized the leaders of the Indi Alliance. Bhavesh Kalita said that the Indi Alliance has lodged an FIR against Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, who works for Khiljia (local) rights. He asked whether these leaders will now have the courage to file an FIR against the Chief Minister of West Bengal, who had made an anti-Assam statement? This is where the true nature of these opposition leaders in Assam has come to the fore.
