Jammu, August 29 (HS). The Indian Army proudly organised a successful sports competition on Thursday to commemorate National Sports Day celebrated on the birth anniversary of legendary field hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. The event was organised in collaboration with Government High School, Hamirpur Sidhar with the aim to highlight the importance of sports in personal development and community engagement.
The day began with an informative lecture on the importance of sports that provided the students with a deeper understanding of how athletic activities contribute to overall well-being and character building. The lecture was followed by a 100-meter race for the students of classes 9th and 10th that showcased their athletic abilities and competitive spirit.
A total of 40 students participated in the sprint competition. Riya Devi and Ritaka Devi were the winners in the girls category while Jatin Singh and Vansh Verma emerged victorious in the boys category. The winners were awarded prizes for their exceptional performance. The event was organised under the guidance of Ravi, Principal of Government High School, Hamirpur Sidhar.
