Jagdalpur, August 29 (HS). A divisional level hockey players selection competition was organized at Pandripani on Thursday on Sports Day under the chief hospitality of Bastar MP. On the occasion of Sports Day on the birth anniversary of Major Dhyanchand, Bastar MP Mahesh Kashyap encouraged the youth and said that the youth of Bastar should give Bastar a distinct identity through sports. MP Kashyap congratulated the players of Bastar who secured first place in the boys and girls category in the 24th state-level school sports hockey competition held in Rajnandgaon and are going to Delhi to play at the national level.

He said that one who does not know how to play, does not know how to live. There is an age limit for joining sports activities, this time limit should be used extensively in sports activities. Due to the expansion of sports, players are getting ample opportunities. Players should improve their talent and improve their performance in the sport of their interest. The government is providing necessary resources to players through schemes like Khelo India. Along with this, employment opportunities are being given through sports.

In the program, Padmashri Dharmpal Saini said that players should regularly participate in sports, to take the sports to new heights, players need to work hard while maintaining the passion for sports. While playing as a player at a young age, players will have to maintain their hard work along with the necessary resources to reach the school level, development block level, district level, division level, state level, national level and international level. There is immense potential of sports talent in the players of Bastar.

In the program, sports equipment was distributed to the players as an incentive by the guests and a match was organized under the divisional level hockey players selection competition. On this occasion, the Sarpanch of Pandaripani, Deputy Sarpanch, Joint Collector Praveen Verma, Sports Department officials, trainers and players were present.
