What did Himanta Sarma say?
The issue of rights of the people of South Assam was raised by the AIUDF MLA in the Assembly. He said, 'People of South Assam can live in the districts of North Assam, it is their right.' In response to which the Chief Minister said, 'Why will the people of South Assam go to North Assam? So that the Miyan Muslims can take over Assam? We will not let this happen.'
We will also write to the President: Assam Congress President
Assam Congress President Bhupen Bora said, 'There are 18 opposition forces in Assam who have jointly filed a police complaint against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Since the results of the Lok Sabha elections, the Chief Minister of Assam is trying to incite communal riots and is also making sensitive statements inside the Assembly. We will also write a letter to the President in this regard.'
Uproar over the case of gang rape of a girl
There was a huge uproar in the assembly over the gang rape and murder of a 14-year-old girl from Nagaon. The Chief Minister made this controversial statement when the opposition raised the issue of law and order in the state. Meanwhile, the opposition also accused him of discrimination for allegedly targeting Bengali-speaking Muslims in South Assam.
Who will complain against whom: CM
Adding to the controversy, CM Sarma said, 'I have just repeated the same sentence that Assam's first Chief Minister late Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi had said in the Assembly. Former Chief Minister Bishnuram Medhi and former Governor SK Sinha also said it. I have neither added nor changed anything in this sentence. If they have to file a complaint, they will have to file a complaint against everyone. I feel sorry for them.'
