Dhamtari, 28 August (HS). Officers and members of Balidani Sukhram Nage Regional Farmers Committee reached the Collectorate on 28 August. By submitting a memorandum to the collector, the officers have requested to convert 22 villages of Nagari and Magarlod block from forest village to revenue village, so that the villages can develop. The villagers have alleged that even after 10 years of notification, their villages have not been able to get the status of revenue village from forest village, due to which there is a lot of resentment among the villagers of the area.

Committee patron Somnath Netam, advisor Bhukhauram Kunjam, Nakchedaram Kashyap, president Radheshyam Netam, vice president Ramji Netam, Soksing Netam, Suresh Markam, Radheshyam Agrawani and officials and members of Kekrakholi office have appealed that 22 forest villages of Magarlod and Nagari blocks should be made revenue villages soon. A notification was also issued on 20 October 2014 from the government level, but even after 10 years, these villages have not got the status of revenue village. Due to not being a revenue village, the village has not been able to connect with the Bhuiyan portal, due to which the villagers are facing problems. Farmers living in 17 villages of Nagari block and five villages of Magarlod block have to face many problems due to forest villages. The villagers of these villages have to do a lot of brainstorming to get the benefits of government schemes including farming loan, selling paddy at support price. Due to not making them revenue villages, the villages are not able to develop enough. Construction and development work is lagging behind. If the government does not convert these villages from forest villages to revenue villages in time, then the villagers have warned the government and administration of agitation.
