Mahendra Singh's grandson, police officer CID Sunam Modam, Mahesh Singh told that his grandfather Mahendra Singh has died at the age of 90. He said that Mahendra Singh was the elder uncle of Olympian, Padmashree, Arjun Awardee and Asian Gold Medalist Kaur Singh.
At that time, Mahendra Singh had a big contribution in getting Kaur Singh included in Army Finance. At that time uncle Mahinder Singh gave 13 rupees and sent Kaur Singh to join the army. After joining the army, Kaur Singh achieved historic achievements for the country which are well known. His last rites have been performed in village Khanal Khurd. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, former Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa, former MLA Surjit Singh Dhiman and other personalities have shared their condolences with the family.
