East Champaran, 27 August (HS). Two accused who were sent to Dhaka sub-divisional hospital for medical examination escaped by dodging the police. Police chased and caught one of them, but one is still out of police's reach, for which Chiraiya police station is conducting raids.
Actually, on Tuesday, four prisoners were brought from Chiraiya police station to Dhaka subdivisional hospital for medical examination. Two policemen sat on chairs in front of the gate with two liquor prohibition prisoners. While the policemen had gone to the registration counter with the other two prisoners to get a slip. Meanwhile, two prisoners arrested in the liquor smuggling case escaped by dodging the police, slipping off the handcuffs and jumping over the boundary wall of the hospital.
The police caught a prisoner named Manoj while he was trying to escape. While a prisoner named Shyam Sundar managed to escape from the eastern end of the subdivision hospital through the back door via the block office. Both the prisoners are Manoj Kumar, a resident of Gokhula in Chiraiya police station area and Shyam Sundar Kumar, son of Kanhai Rai, a resident of Deephi village.
It is noteworthy that on August 26, under the leadership of Sikrahna DSP, Chiraiya police station arrested two smugglers with 519 bottles of Nepali liquor and three bikes from Mishraulia and Senuwari villages. During the raid, one businessman escaped by dodging the police. On being asked about this, Sikrahna DSP Ashok Kumar said that one prisoner has been arrested by the police force. The police team is conducting raids in search of the other prisoner.
