Palamu, August 27 (HS). To drink alcohol, the uncle and nephew first stole a goat, then chopped it into pieces and ate it as snacks. The nephew was not affected by the theft of the goat, but the uncle got scared and committed suicide by hanging himself. The incident happened late on Monday night. The body was hanging on the noose throughout the night. On Tuesday morning, the body of the youth was taken down from the noose. In the afternoon, the body was handed over to the family after post-mortem at MRMCH. This incident is being discussed in the entire village.

This incident is from Budhi village of Navajaypur police station area of Palamu district. 27 year old Vinod Parhiya (uncle) and 25 year old Daulat Parhiya (nephew), residents of this village, stole the goat of Rajendra Singh on 20th August, the day after Raksha Bandhan. The goat had gone to graze in the jungle. Both of them together slaughtered the goat in the jungle. They brought the meat home and cooked it. Both of them went to the village to drink alcohol with the prepared mutton. When they got intoxicated while drinking alcohol, they started talking about the incident of goat theft. A woman sitting nearby overheard them and informed the villagers that the above uncle-nephew had stolen Rajendra Singh's goat and eaten it with alcohol.

On getting the information, the villagers gathered on Monday and a Panchayat was held in which the nephew who ate the goat arrived but the uncle did not go. The uncle did not go to the Panchayat by making an excuse to the villagers. His wife went in his place. During the Panchayat, the compensation for the goat was fixed at Rs. 25,000 and both were directed to pay the fixed amount equally.

Nephew Daulat had taken time to give the money on Thursday. Vinod Parhiya's wife had informed that she would give her decision later. When Vinod came home that night, he had an argument with his wife. Vinod did not sleep in the room with his wife, but slept in the room where the children slept. When one of Vinod's sons woke up to urinate at midnight, he saw that his father was hanging from the noose. He informed his mother. Because it was night, the deceased's wife informed some relatives and left Vinod's body hanging on the noose. The next day, on Tuesday, after the Navajaypur police arrived, the body was taken down from the noose and sent for postmortem.
