Reverse swing is a special bowling technique in cricket. With the help of this technique, bowlers get swing from the old ball, which becomes a big problem for the batsmen. In the last over, the batsmen of any team try to score runs quickly, but in the meantime the old ball starts to reverse swing, which causes trouble. Reverse swing is also called an art, but initially it was called 'deception'.
Reverse swing starts after the ball is about 30 overs old. For this, one side of the ball is kept rough, while the other side is kept smooth. For reverse swing, the ball is thrown as far forward as possible towards the batsman.
Who invented reverse swing?
It is said that reverse swing was invented by former Pakistani bowler Mudassar Nazar. Mudassar played international cricket for Pakistan between 1976 and 1989. After that many legends like Imran Khan, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis took this art forward and gradually reverse swing started being used all over the world.
Pakistan accused of cheating due to reverse swing
It was in 1992 when the English players accused the Pakistan team of cheating due to reverse swing. Bowlers like Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis destroyed England with the help of reverse swing. Some time ago, Akram had surprised the English team with reverse swing.
Wasim Akram thrashed the English bowlers
He said that now England bowlers have also started doing reverse swing, so this bowling has been called an art. Akram said, “The England team should apologize to us. When we started reverse swing against England in 1992, the British made it a big issue all over the world and now this technique has been tried by English bowlers. Reverse swing has also started, it is called an art.”
