Darshan Thoogudeepa Photo: Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, accused of kidnapping and murder, is getting special treatment in jail. ANI shared a photo in which he is seen in a grey T-shirt and black pants with a coffee cup and cigarette in his hand. He is also seen sitting with three people in a garden, drinking coffee and smiling.
The viral photo has raised serious concerns about security inside the jail. According to some reports, those sitting with Darshan included history-sheeter Wilson Garden Naga, the actor's manager and co-accused Nagaraj and another inmate Kulla Seena. The photo has reportedly raised questions over the special treatment being given to the actor.
Renukaswamy, a pharmacist and a fan of Darshan, allegedly sent inappropriate text messages to Pavitra Gowda on Instagram. Though married since 2003, Darshan was in a relationship with Pavitra for over a decade. After learning about the messages, Darshan found out that Renuka lives in Chitradurga and contacted Raghavendra, who runs his fan club there. He then asked Raghavendra to bring Renuka to Bengaluru.
Renuka Swamy was reportedly taken to a spot in RR Nagar where she was beaten up, leading to her death due to multiple injuries. Her body was dumped in a drain near Sumanahalli.
Giving details of the incident, the police said that Darshan and Pavitra were present at the time of the attack. Police told PTI that Darshan beat Renuka with a belt. When she fell unconscious, his companions hit her with sticks and threw her against the wall, which proved fatal.
Kashinath S Sivanagoudru, father of the deceased Renukaswamy, has demanded an investigation into the viral photo and punishment for those responsible. He said that such cases indicate that there should be a CBI inquiry. Sivanagoudru is surprised to see Darshan holding a cigarette and drinking tea with others. He said that we doubt whether he is in jail or not. Jail remains jail and nothing else remains.
Let us tell you that Darshan was arrested on June 11, 2024 in a murder case and has been in judicial custody since June 22. The alleged biased treatment meted out to the actor while in jail has shocked the public and demanded strict enforcement of prison rules.
