The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the creation of five new districts Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra and Changthang in the Union Territory of Ladakh. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has given this information by sharing a post on his official social media handle X.

Giving information about the creation of five new districts in Ladakh, the Home Minister wrote on Twitter, Under PM Modi's vision of creating a developed and prosperous Ladakh, the Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to create five new districts in the Union Territory. The new districts will be Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra and Changthang. He also said that strengthening governance at the grassroots level will benefit every corner of the country. The Modi government is committed to creating opportunities for the people of Ladakh.
It is worth noting that the Government of India had given the status of Union Territory to Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh by removing Article 370 on 5 August 2019. After which Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh became two separate states from 31 October. Along with this, many laws made by the Parliament came into force in the state. Under this, there will be an assembly in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh is a Union Territory.
