Gujarat Weather News: 17 people drowned in water when a tractor overturned in Morbi, Gujarat. The incident took place near Dhawan village of Halvad.

The accident happened while passing through the village's Chak Marg. 10 people have been rescued in this incident, while the search for 7 people is ongoing.

As soon as the information about the incident was received, the MLA, collector and other top officials of the area reached the spot. Teams of NDRF, SDRF and fire department together started the rescue operation.

Heavy rain warning – The India Meteorological Department said on Monday that a depression over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining east Rajasthan has intensified into a high pressure area.

Due to the transition of the high pressure area, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over the two states as well as parts of Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra in the next two-three days.

According to the IMD, at 11:30 pm on August 25, the center of high pressure was located 70 km south-southeast of Chittorgarh, Rajasthan.

The pressure is likely to move towards west-southwest, the IMD said in an update issued at 2 am.

It will affect southern Rajasthan and Gujarat and is likely to reach Saurashtra, Kutch and parts of Pakistan by August 29.

According to IMD, heavy to very heavy rains are likely over East and South Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch from August 26 to 29.

Fishermen advised to stay away from the sea – Strong winds reaching 55 kmph are expected over Gujarat, Pakistan, north Maharashtra and northeast Arabian Sea on August 26, and may increase to 60 kmph on August 27 and 28.

Sea conditions are likely to remain very rough along and off the coast of Gujarat, Pakistan and North Maharashtra till August 30.

The IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, especially along the Gujarat, Pakistan and Maharashtra coasts till August 30.

Small vessels and research and production operators have been asked to monitor the weather conditions and take necessary precautions.

The IMD has also warned of flooding, road closures and inundation, especially in urban areas. Landslides and damage to horticultural crops are also likely.
