Ranchi: After BJP won most of the seats on its own in the Lok Sabha elections, the opposition is getting stronger day by day. Since the Lok Sabha elections, Congress has raised the demand for caste-based census. Congress now has the support of not only the opposition but also the NDA allies. Chirag Paswan, who is called PM Modi's Hanuman, has taken a different stand from BJP on the issue of caste-based census. He has supported Rahul Gandhi and SP President Akhilesh Yadav's caste-based census.
The executive meeting of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) was held in Ranchi, in which Chirag Paswan was once again appointed as the national president. Union Minister Chirag Paswan said, my party has always been in favor of caste-based census. We want caste-based census. This is because most of the state and central governments make schemes keeping in mind caste-based considerations. These schemes have been made to bring these communities into the mainstream. In such a situation, the government should have information about the population of every caste.
However, Chirag Paswan said, I am not in favor of releasing the data of caste based census. I believe that if the figures come out, it will create divisive situations in the society. The court has also sought information from the government several times regarding the caste population. I believe that these figures should be with the government. So that the implementation of the schemes can be improved. This can help in the successful implementation of welfare schemes for the people. Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has once again targeted the Modi government on the issue of caste based census. He said that now no power can stop him on social media platforms. Hindustan's order has come. Soon 90 percent of Indians will support and demand caste based census. Order now otherwise you can see the next Prime Minister giving this order.
Emphasizing the importance of caste-based census, Rahul Gandhi said that this is not a census but the basis for policy making. 90 percent of the people are not part of the system. They have skills, talent, knowledge but they have no connection with the system. This is why we are demanding caste-based census.
In fact, a survey has revealed that 74 percent of the people in the country support caste-based census. Even in the Lok Sabha elections, many opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi had raised the demand for caste-based census. Census is likely to be conducted in the country soon, in such a situation, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh advised the central government that during the census, the central government can add an additional column to collect the details of OBC castes.
It is not known how many tribes there are at present. Currently, only Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) figures are available. OBC castes are not counted. The opposition, including the Congress, is demanding that a caste-based census be conducted and the caste with the highest population should be given reservation.
– Modi's 'Hanuman' anti-NDA stance
Ranchi: Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan was called PM Modi's 'Hanuman' after joining the NDA in the Lok Sabha elections. However, in recent times, Chirag Paswan has been constantly taking a stand against the Modi government. While he has criticized the BJP's stand of opposing caste-based census, Chirag Paswan had earlier opposed recruitment to high posts in the central government through lateral entry. He said that neither I nor my party is against making any government appointment without the provision of reservation. Apart from this, Chirag Paswan also opposed the Supreme Court's order of creamy layer in SC-ST reservation. He supported Bharat Bandh on this issue.
