After watching the film 12th Fail inspired by the journey of IPS Manoj Sharma, Smita Sabharwal shared her 12th class marksheet on her social media account X. After this, she wrote in her X post that #12thfail was an inspiration. But passing 12th is like a good memory. When I saw the 12th result, I remembered that doing well gives confidence to dream big. All those children who are preparing for #UPSC, one of the toughest entrance exams in the world. #WorkHard and #WorkSmart expression / subject knowledge are both equally necessary. Smita Sabharwal was born on 19 June 1977 in Darjeeling and is the daughter of Colonel Pranab Das , After her father's retirement, her family settled in Hyderabad. Her early education was in Hyderabad where she studied at St. Anne's High School, Secunderabad. IAS Smita Sabharwal passed her 12th class board examination from CISCE board in the year 1995. After initial failure in the first attempt, Smita's determination made her successful. In her second attempt, she not only cleared the UPSC exam but also secured a brilliant All India Rank of 4. Obtaining the title at the young age of 23 made her one of the youngest IAS officers in India.
Received PM Excellence Award in first appointment
Smita Sabharwal was first appointed as Sub Collector in Chittoor district and then after working in many districts of Andhra Pradesh for a decade, she was made DM of Karimnagar district in April 2011. Here she started the Ammalla project in the health care sector. After the success of this project, Smita was also awarded the Prime Minister Excellence Award. When DM Smita was posted in Karimnagar, Karimnagar also received the Best Town Award. Smita is married to 2001 batch IPS officer Akun Sabharwal, they have two children Nanak and Bhuvish.
