New Zealand beats South Africa for the first time in a Test series and ends 92 years of drought

New Zealand won the Hamilton Test against South Africa by 7 wickets on Friday. With this match, New Zealand also won the two-match Test series. This is the first time in the history of cricket that a Kiwi team has defeated the Proteas in a Test series.

The first Test series was played between New Zealand and South Africa in the year 1932. After this, South Africa won the two-match Test series 2-0. From then till now i.e. in the last 92 years, New Zealand has not lost even a single test series out of 18. During this period, four Test series were drawn and South Africa won 14 series. This is now the first time that a Kiwi team has won.

While Kane Williamson scored 403 runs in 4 innings of these two Test matches, William O'Rourke broke the back of the Proteas batting by taking 9 wickets in just one match. William O'Rourke gave this strong performance in the second and last test of the series. Due to this performance he also got the 'Player of the Match' award.

New Zealand won the first match of this series by 281 runs. In the second match, this team won by 7 wickets. In the second match played in Hamilton, South Africa gave a target of 267 runs to New Zealand, which New Zealand achieved by losing 3 wickets. While chasing the target, New Zealand lost 3 wickets for 117 runs. From here, Kane Williamson made an unbeaten 152-run partnership with Will Young and led the Kiwi team to victory.
