Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Jalgaon in Maharashtra today, where he addressed the Lakhpati Didi Sammelan. During this, PM Modi said on the Kolkata massacre, 'Our government is also constantly making laws stricter to punish those who commit atrocities on women.' The Prime Minister said that crimes against women are not pardonable.
He further said that today the sisters and daughters of the country are present here in such a large number. Earlier there were complaints that FIRs were not registered on time, hearings were not held and cases were delayed.
'Women can register FIR from their homes'
The Prime Minister also said, 'We have removed many such obstacles in the Indian Penal Code, which had a whole chapter on atrocities against women and children. If the victim women do not want to go to the police station, they can register an e-FIR from home. We have also ensured that no one will be able to tamper with the e-FIR at the police station level.
The Prime Minister honoured 11 lakh Lakhpati sisters by giving them certificates. In the Jalgaon program, PM Modi said that his government has done more work for women in the last 10 years since independence than all the previous governments.
'Less than Rs 25,000 crore in loans were given till 2014'
PM Modi also said, 'Till 2014, less than Rs 25,000 crore loans were given to women self-help groups, but in the last 10 years, Rs 9 lakh crore have been given.'
