Amritsar: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has expressed deep grief over the burning of the holy effigy of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Attari in Amritsar. After receiving information about the incident at Gurdwara Sahib Panchayat Ghar Attari, the Shiromani Committee has sent Gurdwara Satlani Sahib manager and Pracharak Singh to the spot, who will give a detailed report on the matter.
Shiromani Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that incidents of fire inside Gurdwara Sahibs occur due to the negligence of the managers. Devotees have been appealed many times to ensure the presence of attendants inside the Gurdwara Sahibs at all times and not keep electrical equipment on unnecessarily. He said that it is sad that the management committees do not pay attention to this, due to which such accidents happen. He said that it is the responsibility of the Gurdwara Committees to remain vigilant to prevent such accidents and regularly inspect the electrical wires and equipment inside the Gurudwaras. Along with this, it should also be ensured that the presence of a sevadar is necessary inside the Gurudwara Sahib at all times, so that such incidents can be prevented. He also appealed to the Sangat to the Gurudwara Committees to remain vigilant from time to time.
