Kolkata Doctor Rape Murder Case: The whole country is angry over the rape and murder case in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. The Supreme Court termed the delay of Kolkata Police in registering a case of unnatural death related to rape and murder at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital as extremely disturbing. Meanwhile, the mother of the main accused Sanjay said that her son is innocent.

According to NDTV report, the mother of accused Sanjay Roy said, “He will understand what he has done. Not just one man but many people are involved in this incident. My son has not done anything wrong, he is innocent.”

The accused's mother said that her son has married only once, he has not married four times. Sanjay Roy's elder sister also lives nearby where his mother lives. She told that Sanjay was married twice. She said that she came to know about the rape and murder case through TV. The accused's sister said that if he has done something wrong then he should be punished.

Kolkata rape case prime accused Sanjay Roy was produced in Sealdah court on Friday (23 August 2024), where he was sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Earlier, the CBI team had sought permission for polygraph test of the prime accused as well as the former principal and four doctors of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, which was granted on Thursday (22 August 2024).

The CBI team has so far questioned 73 people in the trainee doctor rape-murder case. The CBI suspects that whatever statements Sanjay Roy and former principal Sandip Ghosh have given so far are not completely true. A bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud is hearing this case in the Supreme Court.
