Guwahati, August 24 (HS). The police have started a free vehicle scheme for women. Under this, any woman who is unable to get a vehicle to go home alone can contact the police helpline number (1091 and 7837018555) between 10 pm and 6 am for a police vehicle.
Policemen will work on it 24×7. The control room vehicle or the nearest PCR vehicle, SHO vehicle will take her to a safe destination. This work will be done free of cost. The police has appealed to the people to spread this message to everyone you know. Send the number to your spouse, daughter, sister, mother, friends and all the women you know.
Police have said that in case of emergency, women can leave a blank message or missed call to help the police trace their location.
