On the request of the Bihar Government, the Central Government has given this approval on 12 August 2024. For the last two years, the members have been working hard for this blood bank and especially the trustees of Lions Foundation Trust were working hard. Now after getting the approval of the blood bank, there is happiness not only among the members but in the entire Seemanchal including Forbesganj.
Let us tell you that now the people here will not have to depend on Purnia and Nepal across the border for blood, because now 400 units of blood will always be available here. According to government provisions, there is a provision for the patient to get blood from the blood bank only. But especially in the border areas including Forbesganj, black marketing of blood is going on rampantly. Due to the absence of a blood bank, many patients who were in dire need of blood. They have even lost their lives due to not getting blood. In such a situation, the approval given to Forbesganj Lions Blood Bank is no less than a lifesaver. Now 400 units of blood will always be available here, any donor who donates his blood in this blood bank. They will have to undergo many tests like hepatitis, AIDS, group, RH and many other tests. There is a provision to take blood only after this.
It is said that earlier, after investigation by the representatives of the Bihar government and the central government, the Bihar government had requested the central government for NOC and approval after inspection. But on 12 August 2024, the central government, on the request of the Bihar government, approved the blood bank and also gave NOC.
In this context, Lions Foundation Trust Chairman Dr Ajay Kumar Singh said that all the trustees and members have contributed significantly to this blood bank, but this blood bank will be dedicated to the late Dr Mahanand Jha, a famous surgeon of this region. Because along with the trustees, the family members of late Jha have provided a lot of positive support in the establishment of this blood bank.
