Mumbai : Maha Vikas Agri has withdrawn the statewide bandh called for Saturday after the Bombay High Court barred political parties or individuals from calling for Maharashtra bandh.

The opposition of closed had called upon

The bandh was called by opposition alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi (MAVIA) on August 24 to protest against the alleged sexual assault of two girl students at a school in Thane's Badlapur. Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray has said that now MAVIA leaders and activists will protest at different places across the state with black bands on their faces and black flags in their hands.

What did the court say?

On Friday, a division bench of Chief Justice D.K. Upadhyay and Justice Amit Borkar, while hearing a petition, said that the Maharashtra government will take all necessary steps to prevent the bandh. The judges said that they will soon pass a detailed order on two petitions filed by advocates Subhash Jha and Gunaratna Sadavarte challenging the call for the bandh.
