CUJ celebrates National Space Day in honour of historic achievement of Chandrayaan-3 | News India

Jammu, August 23 (HS). The Central University of Jammu celebrated National Space Day on Friday with a function organized by the Department of Physics and Astronomy. The event was organized under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain and co-patronage of Head and Dean of School of Basic and Applied Sciences (SBAS) Prof. Vinay Kumar.

The programme began with the formal inauguration by Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain. Thereafter, Prof. Vinay Kumar addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of National Space Day and highlighted the remarkable achievements of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), especially the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the South Pole of the Moon.

Prof. Suram Singh, Dean of Academic Faculty, provided an insightful overview of India's space journey that traces its roots back to Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, the visionary founder of the Indian space programme. His address underlined the importance of space exploration and its impact on scientific and technological progress.

The event had various activities including quiz competition, poetry recitation, debate, poster making and rangoli competition in which students from various departments of the university participated enthusiastically. The winning team comprised Sunakshi, Shriyank, Varun and Amit while Bhumika and Akshay were declared runners-up. Abhishri and Swastik won the first place in the debate competition while Arshiya and Ritika Fiske were the runners-up. Swastik and Arshiya were declared winner and runner-up respectively in the poetry competition. Krutish, Khushi and Tanushree Pathak were winner and runner-up in the poster making category. Neha and Bhavana were the winners in the digital poster competition while Vishali and Arunima were declared runners-up.
