Referring to his career spanning over thirty years, he said that in these thirty years he had contested five assembly and two parliamentary elections and won with exemplary margins and held many prestigious positions in the party organization and in the state and central governments. He said that he had entered politics at the behest of the Sangh. “They (the Sangh) could convince me only because for me politics meant an opportunity to fight our three main enemies – poverty, disease and ignorance.”
Dr Harsh Vardhan said, “A volunteer at heart, I have always been an ardent admirer of Deen Dayal Upadhyay's Antyodaya philosophy of striving to serve the last person in the queue.” As a Minister at the Centre, he got the rare opportunity to first work towards achieving a polio-free India and later to look after the health of millions of our countrymen battling the dreaded Covid-19.
