OPD starts in government college: The 11-day strike in Punjab in protest against the rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College on the night of August 9 has ended today. The 11-day strike has been called off after the assurance of the Supreme Court. After a long discussion, the doctors have returned to their work today.

Today, on Friday, OPD and other facilities have been restored normally in PGI Chandigarh, Patiala and Amritsar Government Medical Colleges. But during this time all the doctors will give their services wearing black bands and express their anger.

The Chief Justice had said on Thursday that doctors should return to work. He knows the condition of hospitals. He himself slept on the floor of a government hospital when a member of his family was ill. No action will be taken against the doctors after their return.

The CJI has asked the state governments to make adequate security arrangements for doctors. This exercise is said to be completed in 1 week. The state will implement it within 2 weeks.

Resident Doctors Association Amritsar Medical College Executive Secretary Dr. Samarth Gupta said that after the assurance of the Supreme Court, the doctors have ended the strike and returned to work. From today, Friday, OPD and all other facilities will work normally.
