Government bans 156 cocktail drugs : The government has banned 156 FDCs (Fixed Dose Combination Drugs) with immediate effect. An immediate ban has been ordered on the production, storage and sale of these drugs. The Health Ministry has issued a notification in this regard. Last year, 14 FDCs were banned.
Patients suffer losses instead of benefits
According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Health, this decision has been taken after the recommendation of the Drug Technical Advisory Board (DTAB). In its investigation, DTAB did not find the claims of these combination medicines correct and took this decision after considering the harm compared to the benefits to the patient.
14 FDCs were banned last year
According to the notification, the FDCs which have been banned include antibiotics, anti-allergy, pain, fever, hypertension, multivitamins and many other medicines. Last year, 14 FDCs were banned. Last year, 14 FDCs were banned. In the year 2016, 344 FDCs were banned.
