Jagdalpur, 22 August (HS). Former PCC President of Congress Mohan Markam and Konta MLA Kawasi Lakhma said in a joint press conference on Thursday at Bastar district headquarters that sand smuggling is being done from Konta with the connivance of officials, local BJP leaders and ministers. Four journalists who went to expose this have been arrested in Andhra Pradesh in a fake ganja case, which is condemnable. Mohan Markam said that we had gone to Rajmandri Central Jail in Andhra Pradesh, and have returned with full details of the meeting with the four journalists. Also, after talking to the local people in Konta about the sand smuggling case, we went to the place from where sand was being extracted. Sand smugglers have dumped thousands of tippers of sand, which was being smuggled. The investigation of the Congress Committee has revealed that the ministers and local leaders of the BJP government are behind this sand smuggling.

Mohan Markam said that journalists Bappi Rai, Nishu alias Shivendu Trivedi, Manish Singh and Dharmendra Singh, who had come to expose this whole matter, were framed by placing ganja in their car. All these journalists were arrested in Andhra Pradesh. Now the Congress party is trying its best to get all these innocent journalists released as soon as possible under the legal process.

Konta MLA Kawasi Lakhma said that Konta BJP leader P. Vijay has a big role in this entire conspiracy. He said that when SHO Ajay Sonkar was arrested on charges of tampering with the camera, he left a message on social media before going to jail. Just after P. Vijay's nephew's message, Ajay Sonkar's message was to inform Netaji. This is proof that the police, officers, leaders are all involved in this entire matter. Kawasi Lakhma said that we demand that the phone calls of all those who are under suspicion should be investigated.
