Shimla, 22 August (HS). Contract employees are continuously protesting against the state government's decision to regularize contract employees once a year. Employees who have completed their contract tenure are angry with this decision of the government and are demanding from the government that regularization should be done twice a year as before. They have warned the government that right now we are requesting the government while staying within limits but their voices are not being heard.
State President of Sarvaanubandh Karamchari Mahasangh Kameshwar Sharma said during a press conference in Shimla that he has met the Chief Minister 11 times regarding his demand. He also met ministers but his pleas have not been heard till date. He said that the government has decided that regularization will happen only once in the month of March, but due to this, the employees who are completing their two-year tenure by September have to wait longer. Due to which they are facing promotion and financial loss.
He said that there are many employees who complete two years not in March but in April. In such a situation, earlier they had the option that they would be regularized in the month of September, but now they have to wait till March next year.
He said that by September, there are about three thousand such employees of various departments whose two-year contract tenure will be completed. He has demanded that the government regularize these contract employees as before. Contract employees will also place their demand before the government during the assembly session. The new rules should not be applicable to employees already appointed.
