Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has reached Srinagar on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir along with party president Mallikarjun Kharge. Rahul Gandhi met Farooq Abdullah on Thursday. After this Abdullah announced an alliance with Congress. He said that Congress and National Conference will contest the elections together. Seats will be allotted soon. We will release the manifesto soon.

National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, after meeting Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, said the meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere. The alliance is on track and with God's grace it will continue. “It is final, it will be approved by this evening… it (alliance) has been done on all 90 seats.”

Earlier in the press conference, Rahul Gandhi said that we are opening a shop of love and will continue to do so. Addressing Congress workers in Srinagar, Rahul Gandhi said that I love the people of Jammu and Kashmir very much. It is a very old relationship, a blood relation. If anyone has worked with confidence and fearlessness in Jammu and Kashmir, it is the Congress workers. Regarding the alliance in the assembly elections, he said that there will definitely be an alliance but it will be done while maintaining the dignity of the workers of the Congress party.

In Srinagar, Rahul Gandhi said that restoring the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir and the democratic rights of the people there will be the priority of the Congress and 'Bharat' alliance. He said that it is clear in our national manifesto that the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh should get back their democratic rights, this is our priority. Congress is always ready to help the people of Jammu and Kashmir in every possible way, we understand that you are going through difficult times.

Assembly elections have been announced in Jammu and Kashmir. Elections will be held here in three phases. The first phase of voting will be held on September 18 while the last phase of voting will be held on October 1. The second phase of voting will be held on September 25. Counting of votes will take place on October 4.
