People have started arriving in the model villages built by China near the Line of Actual Control (LAC). According to sources, people have started living in many villages now. China started building such model villages near the LAC about six years ago and they have been vacant for a long time.
India has often expressed apprehension that China can make dual use of these villages. According to sources, one of the objectives of China is to keep an eye on the Tibetans. Also, if needed, it can also be used for military purposes. In the last few years, China has built many underground storage facilities on the other side of the LAC. There are also Chinese bunkers here but most of the storage has been done underground.
China built Jiakong village
In the eastern sector itself, China has built about 630 model villages on the other side of the LAC, out of which about 500 villages have been completed. China calls it Jiakong Village. Which means prosperous village. There are about 145 Chinese model villages across the LAC in eastern Arunachal Pradesh itself. China is now focusing on storage facilities. China passed a new land law in October 2021, which came into force on January 1, 2022.
People started living in Adarsh Gram
People have started living in these model villages which were found empty till now. People are now seen in many villages. Sources say that China always fears that the Tibetans living near the LAC may give information to the Indian Army. There are Tibetan villages at this place and it is difficult to monitor them. By settling villages near the LAC, they can be monitored.
