New Tehri, 23 August (HS). The disaster in the area of ​​Bhilangana block is not taking the name of stopping. Heavy rains caused landslides at different places in Ghutu-Bhilang area late last Tuesday night. Due to this, residential buildings, roads, agricultural land, drinking water lines were damaged in many villages and many cattle died after getting buried under the debris. On receiving the information of the incident, the team of tehsil administration reached the spot and shifted the affected people to Rainka Ghuttu.

Late on Tuesday night, due to heavy rains in Mendu, Sindwal village, Gavana Malla, Kandargaon, Devling, Satiyala, Bagar, Chakra village, Lom Bhat village, Hindkuda of Ghuttu-Bhilang, the buildings, fields, footpaths, drinking water lines and footbridges of the villagers were washed away. As soon as torrential rain started in the area at night, the villagers also became alert due to the fear of some untoward incident. At around 2.30 in the night, there was heavy rain with loud thunder. Heavy landslides and land subsidence occurred in many places due to heavy rains in Ghuttu and about eight to ten villages around it. Due to which roads have been washed away at many places. Many culverts also fell prey to the disaster. Due to heavy rains in Ghuttu Devling, debris fell on the cowshed of Sauni Devi and Dhanpal Singh. Due to which two cows and six calves got buried under the debris, while two cows were injured. On receiving the information of the incident, the Revenue Department team left for the spot along with SDRF, but due to the Ghansali Ghutu motor road being closed at many places from Dhopdhar upwards, the relief team was delayed in reaching the spot. Three JCB machines have been deployed on the spot by the Public Works Department to open the road. After removing the debris, the relief and rescue team reached the spot.

MLA representative Anand Bisht and block pramukh Basumati Ghanata reached the spot and took stock of the damage caused by the disaster. Naib Tehsildar Mahesh Shah said that the residential houses of villagers Kamal Singh and Mahavir Singh were damaged in the debris in Dang. The affected families have been shifted to Rainka Ghutu.

SDM Apoorva Singh said that road, electricity and drinking water supply is being restored in the affected areas. Two affected families have been shifted to Inter College Ghuttu, where relief material and medical team have been sent. At present, two buildings have been reported to be completely damaged, the number of which may increase.
