Delegation of Ranchi Press Club met DGP, demand to stop fake cases against journalists | News India

Ranchi, 21 August (HS). A delegation of the Press Club met DGP Anurag Gupta on Wednesday. During this, a memorandum of demands was submitted for resolving the problems of journalists. In the memorandum given to the DGP, it was said that journalism has a glorious history in the state.

Despite all the challenges, the journalists here have raised the value of the fourth pillar of democracy with full devotion. Despite this, the journalists of the state are facing many problems.

The delegation of 'The Ranchi Press Club', which has become the center of faith of all the journalists of the state in the interest of journalists, drew the attention of the DGP towards many problems. Prominent among these are that the false cases registered against journalists in entire Jharkhand should be investigated through SIT and justice should be provided to them. Journalists are paying the price for their outspoken journalism. It has been said in the memorandum that the related cases should be investigated and they should be acquitted of false cases. Along with this, initiatives should be taken towards implementing the Journalist Protection Act in the state like Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and other states. The process of giving receipt of the application of the victims should be strictly implemented in every police station of the state. It has been said in the memorandum that there have been many such occasions when influential people register false cases like extortion, assault to suppress the voice of journalists, the police and the police station also work at the behest of the influential people. Instructions should be given from your level to ensure that the police investigates the entire truth carefully before registering such cases. In addition, the delegation of the club urged the DGP to organize a workshop on cyber crime and various other subjects in the club under the joint aegis of Jharkhand Police and Press Club.

After the memorandum, the DGP assured the delegation that positive action would be taken on the related demands.

Those who submitted the memorandum to the DGP included 'The Ranchi Press Club' Vice President Dharmendra Giri, Treasurer Kuber Singh, Managing Committee members RJ Arvind, Monu Kumar and Vijay Mishra.
