Alok Kumar Ranjan committed suicide: A case of suicide by an officer in the Enforcement Directorate has come to light. According to the information received, ED officer Alok Kumar Ranjan has committed suicide. His body was recovered from the railway track. ED and CBI were investigating the officer in a case related to alleged corruption. ED Assistant Director Sandeep Singh was arrested by the CBI on August 7 on charges of demanding a bribe of Rs 50 lakh.
Meanwhile, the CBI said that a complainant has claimed that Sandeep Singh had demanded a bribe of Rs 50 lakh for not arresting his son. The CBI arrested Sandeep from Lajpat Nagar in Delhi while accepting a bribe of Rs 50 lakh.
Allegedly, Sandeep Singh was taking money from a jeweler in Mumbai. ED raided the same jeweler's shop, while Sandeep was a part of that team. Sandeep Singh was made an accused in the FIR and ED officer Alok Kumar Ranjan was also named in the same FIR.
Sandeep Singh was suspended after this incident. After this, ED filed a case of money laundering on the basis of CBI's FIR.
