Petition filed
According to media reports, a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court demanding the removal of the picture of the Kolkata rape victim from social media. While hearing the petition filed against revealing the identity on some media organizations and social media platforms, the Supreme Court has also expressed strong displeasure.

What did the Supreme Court say?

While hearing the petition, the Supreme Court said that the way media organizations are revealing the name and identity of the victim of brutality at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital is completely wrong. It was also said that this is also against the provision given in the Supreme Court's decision because the identity of the rape victim cannot be revealed.

Who issued the summons?
Kolkata Police had earlier issued summons to former BJP MP Locket Chatterjee and two prominent doctors for spreading rumours and revealing the identity of the victimised female doctor. According to the report, summons have also been issued to 57 other people for spreading misinformation.
