Misuse of SMS: People keep getting unwanted calls and messages every day. Not only do people get annoyed by these but they also get cheated many times. In view of this, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued new guidelines on Tuesday. According to them, now all telemarketing calls will have to be migrated to the 140 series for better monitoring and control. For this, all telecom companies have been given time till September 30. Apart from this, no URL, APK, OTT link or call back number will be sent in any message from September 1.
Complete information of the sender and recipient of the message must be kept
TRAI has said that all telecom companies will have to improve their systems regarding messages. From November 1, 2024, they should have complete information about the sender and receiver of every message. If a message does not have this information, it should be rejected. TRAI has said that content templates registered in the wrong category will also have to be blacklisted.
Sometimes the person making the mistake has to be suspended for a month. All guidelines in the content template must be followed. Additionally, a single content template cannot be linked to multiple headers.
If any errors are found in the header or content template, you will face suspension
TRAI has said that if any error is found in the header or content template, then all the headers and content templates of that company will be suspended. After this, they will have to go through the verification process. They will have to go through the legal process before being allowed to work again. Apart from this, delivery and telemarketers will also have to report the misuse of messages within two days. Otherwise strict action will be taken against them.
TRAI wants to make the messaging system transparent and clear
TRAI has said that it wants to make the messaging system transparent and clear. TRAI's priority is consumers and their interests. There will be no compromise on them. This step was necessary to protect people from fake messages and financial scams. Such steps will be taken in the future on the advice of the people.
